Instant Heart Rate app is the pulse through the phone camera and flash. This software works on the principle of observing the change of capillaries on the fingers, then the application will use its own algorithms to produce pulse results closest to the user.
The calculation of the app has a similar operation pulse sensors used in medical devices today. Instant Heart Rate compatible with both Android and iOS.
Upon opening the application, the machine automatically flash light up and ask users to place the index finger on their left hand cover of the camera.

Several small note:
